There are a dozen visible near-adults (The first hatch?), but behind the woodpile and in the weeds are a number of poults. There must have been at least twenty in all. And just in time for Thanksgiving!
These are of one of our trucks unloading material to build a temporary "road" in the river for some work on the Rapidan Dam. The nice day and neat location/job made for some pretty cool pictures!

One Big Dog!
This is Ernie, a Great Dane, the largest dog at the Arf Walk in Land of Memories park on Saturday. They feed him Rottweilers for breakfast. He allows Harlan Bloomer to "own" him. He makes no other concessions.
Emmie Dittmor and Hallie McCabe share a special moment with their very chocolate Lab at the Arf Walk in Land of Memories Park on Saturday. Life is good!
Evan Andreasen, youngest member and future manager of the Mankato Baltics Base Ball team, poses in front of the Blue Earth County Historical Society's backdrop during the Base Ball game Saturday during the Arf Walk at Land of Memories Park. Evan is the son of Joe and Katie Andreasen.
The William R. Robinson House: Viewed along with other historic sites in Lake Crystal during the BEC Historical Society's Pub Crawl last Friday evening, the Robinson House, as it is now called, was built in 1870, shortly after the Dakota Conflict. Having survived the terrors of that ordeal, Mr. Robinson built it with a eye out for security, installing a hidden room dug into a wall in the basement in case of further attacks. This house is much older than the trees that surround it, and it is for sale.
These two little ones are getting up there now to where they will soon lose their spots. They're fat and frisky and enjoy showing off by jumping and running around in circles. Mom isn't always impressed, though. She will whistle, stomp and snort if she senses your presence, implying, "Don't mess with me!"
I love taking photographs of my cat Poppy. She is funny and has a great personality! :-) This picture didn't come out the clearest, but it still makes me laugh because she is so cute and funny! :)

"By the rude bridge that arched the flood," (Emerson)
. . . Where once Sir Henry Welcome stood -- (YT)
The bridge across the Watonwan River in Garden City
Certainly Sir Henry Welcome once stood here -- the founder of one of the world's largest pharmaceutical empires, one of The Remarkable Men from Garden City. (Win Grundmeier) This is also the spot where a beer truck once rolled over, providing free beer and conversation for an entire community.
Reflections: The quiet waters of the Watonwan River reflect the white towers supporting the Hwy. 20 bridge by our county park and canoe landing a few miles south of Lake Crystal. Hidden also are the pilings for the old grist mill a few yards downstream at the town of Watonwan, a busy little village, now faded into the history of our beautiful county.
