This photo was what I awoke to from a nap in my turkey blind 4/20/10 at about 2:00 p.m. The sun was shining and there was Mary brilliantly white kneeling in the bushes praying with me. Mary is my constant companion. It was the day before my husband passed away (two years later).

Of the couple hundred I shot today, this is one of my favorites!  Long lens. The three girls are Mankato West students, from left, Erika Meierding, Callie Sonnek and Lauren Farley, and in the process of falling from the top of the Power Tower. They are checking out the accelerometer in Callie's hand...noting it reads about 0.5 g as they fall!

BROADWING HAWK

 

This Broadwing Hawk swept down to attack

a bird at our feeder. He missed and slammed into

our window and fell to the ground. I thought he

was dead but soon flew 20 feet and perched on

top of our car to recover. He still patrols our area daily and

much of the bird population has relocated.
